War Room Review

I finally watched War Room with Luis on Saturday night and I still can not stop thinking about it!!

I won't go into too much detail because I hate giving away too much info.
The movie surrounds Tony and Elizabeth Jordan's marriage. After being married 16 years their marriage has become cold and bitter, leaving Tony open to temptation elsewhere.
Elizabeth meets an elderly lady, Miss Clara, who quickly notices there seems to be problems in her marriage and makes it her mission to help Elizabeth. She teaches Elizabeth the ins and outs of prayer and how to use it. Elizabeth goes to spiritual war for her marriage and family- the outcome is a God given miracle.

I feel the writers of this movie really did an amazing job. God really used them to write this script. Throughout the entire film not only were my eyes engaged, but so was my soul. This movie takes you through this heart wrenching journey and makes you see the grace of God for us.

I grew up a christian and I thank my parents and grandparents for instilling those beliefs in my siblings and I. Along the way I left church and God to pursue my own needs and curiosities. However, my needs left me feeling empty, cold and always alone.  When I became a mother I felt like I had to teach my kids about God and how wonderful I once knew him to be. I wanted them to know that no matter what the problem or how alone you might feel God will always be there to help and carry you through.
I returned to God a few years ago, a little tattered and a lot more humble, and not a day goes by where my family does not pray together. Abram actually refuses to go to bed without family prayer. We are so much happier than we once were and through the halls of my house there is peace and joy, but I realized after watching this movie, that prayer is much more than words coming out of your mouth. Prayer should be feelings coming out of your heart. God hears our prayers and he knows the innermost needs of our hearts, but do we? I pray for my family and their safety. I pray to thank God for all he gives us so undeservingly, yet I don't take the time to always pray from my heart. I don't make the time to have a meaningful conversation with God, alone and undistracted, about what I really need from him or ask what he really needs from me.

War Room was a beautiful movie that helped me realize the power of prayer and how much we really need it in our daily life, not just as a quick bedtime prayer, but to establish a bond with our creator and to take alone time with him. To help me see more of his miracles in my daily life, maybe ones I didn't even see were there, and to experience more of his grace for my family.
I recommend this movie so so much to anyone and everyone out there, but especially those with a family. You will view the power of prayer differently after watching this film.

If you have already seen this movie let me know what you thought of it in the comments below!
Have a wonderful and blessed week,

  2. We watched it last weekend for the first time and I LOVED it. It reminded me of Fireproof, but I enjoyed it even more. I cried lots of tears, and it really convicted my heart about my own prayer life. I am so glad I watched it. Our church will be having a potluck and playing it next Sunday evening too!

    1. I enjoyed Fireproof, but this one just blew me out of the water. That's awesome, that your church would do that! My youth group was thinking of doing that.

    1. Oh I am so glad you can relate. I am so much stronger in my faith. There is a saying that goes "when someone is forgiven for much, they are appreciative for much." That is how I feel with God.

  9. Dominique, this is a great review and a beautiful message! I'm actually going to tell my husband this will be the next movie we watch! I appreciate a movie that can move me spiritually and get me thinking. I love the power of prayer and since I've had a family my desire to to share my love of God with them has made me stronger in my faith.
