Postpartum Spring Staples

Postpartum Spring Staples

Postpartum Spring Staples by writingmother-fashionista featuring Kiss My Face

Since Josiah will be coming within the next month, I wanted to share some of the normal staples to my wardrobe after I normally give birth. On any normal day I will just be in jeans and a t-shirt, and probably barefoot. On those rare days I do go out I just throw on my Converse and some sunglasses and off we go. This time around will probably be the same except now I am older and a bit wiser so I've been trying to remember sunblock and lip balm. I really am trying to take care of my skin more with moisturizers and eye serums and all that good stuff before bed and before going in the sun. I also don't feel really awake unless I wear mascara. My all time favorite is Loreal Telescopic. Lastly my Coach diaper bag. My father in-law gifted to us when Abram was a baby, so of course I haven't used another one since.
I've noticed the trend lately is for women to pop out kids and get beautiful and in shape right away, but remember it took you 9 months to put the weight on so dont stress too much about how long it takes to get it off! Besides with a new baby to try and figure out you wont have too much time to worry about your looks. Dont get me wrong, take care of yourself, but don't feel like you have to get dolled up every single time. Cut yourself a break, you did just have a beautiful baby after all!

Avila Beach

Sunday was such a beautiful day I told Luis we had to get out of the house with the kids. I was so glad we agreed on the beach, it was a gorgeous day! Abram and Eli were so stoked to be at the beach they didn't get cranky or even cry once! We all had so much fun! There are so many beaches along the central coast, but Avila is usually the prettiest closest to where we live. It was a pretty busy beach so Luis had to drop us off and then go park the car, where we ended up leaving the camera. I was so bummed I didn't get great pictures with the camera, but these are some we took with our phone.
After our fun filled day at the beach we went home and Luis BBQ'd some delicious chicken! I must say he is the best griller in my book. The boys always finish their dinner if he grills. All in all it was a beautiful Sunday that made me feel so relaxed. I love Spring!!!

Instead Of A Baby Shower

Since this is my third baby I really felt awkward having another baby shower. Instead my best friends took me out for a wonderful girls day!
Coffee and girl talk!

Mani Pedis, oh so relaxing!

Some Shopping and a visit to my Best Friends mom for a special gift!

Sarah and I have been the best of friends for almost 9 years!!
Dinner at Olive garden with the clan, minus my kids since they were with my sister.

Sarah bought my favorite cakes from the Madonna Inn!! YUMMMM!
She is so awesome! I'm so spoiled... Haha

I really had a wonderful day! Thank you everyone who was a part of it. I love you all and can't wait for you all to meet Josiah!

Busy Day

This morning Abram had a pretty early Tball game, 9 am...... So we were up pretty early with them making breakfast and getting snack bags ready for the team. My kids have no problem getting up and having so much energy from the get go. I really don't know how they do it! Of course with all the stuff I had to remember doing this morning I forgot my camera, so I have no good pictures of his game! I was so bummed. I really like taking lots of pictures of them because we will never get this time back, as many of you may already know, they grow up so fast! I am the type of mom that even goes into their room at night and takes pictures of them sleeping. I know, sometimes a little much, but I can't help it they look so peaceful sleeping!!

I love them to death, but today after Abrams soccer my sister is doing us the favor of taking them overnight so we can get some alone time before baby #3 arrives. Although I miss the chaos when they are gone, the house seems way to quiet and walking by their empty rooms makes my heart jolt, we definitely need a break. I'm so excited for our date, I am married to a pretty hot man! Haha... I feel really blessed he is my husband. Luis is so understanding and helpful with the kids, I'd be ungrateful not to rave about him!
He really is my rock!

I hope everyone has a wonderful and blessed weekend!!

Thursday

Grateful

I really did not feel like getting out of bed today. I just wanted my alarm to shut up and stop reminding me I had responsibilities! I finally got up and started my morning routine. As I was walking Abram to school I noticed what a beautiful day it is! The sun was already out, it was not cold, yet not hot, the street was still very peaceful and my son was smiling. I felt so grateful to be alive and healthy.

At times I wake up and become so consumed by the day to even notice it. I stress and become grouchy or I cant wait until bed time. On those days I tend to forget how truly blessed I am to have a wonderful family, health and a home to take care of.

Take a moment to reflect on what you are thankful for today. Try not to get stressed about the day, your responsibilities, and brush off the stuff that's not going your way. Look around, whose in your life? Are you healthy? What have you accomplished? Make it a point to find the good in your life. Remember the day is what you make it and always have a grateful heart!

Potty Training

With the new baby coming, we definitely don't want to be spending extra money on 2 sets of diapers. I started trying to potty train Eli (2yrs old), months ago. Well let me tell you its been pretty brutal!  He was just not having it. Until these last 2 weeks, he was fighting me every step of the way. I decided to back off and just give him some time and maybe ease into it later on. That strategy worked wonders! He has been using the potty now for almost 2 weeks. There still has been a couple of accidents, but he is really trying to understand the concept.

In the morning after I take off his diaper I take him to the potty. At first he was just sitting there saying "No Mommy", but my husband was the genius to thing to blow air on him to make him go. That made him giggle, but worked like a charm.

Throughout the morning I am asking him if he needs to go, but if I've seen its been more than a half hour that he has gone I will just take him and sit him there. Most of the time he does have to go. I put a pull up on him to go pick up Abram from school or if we have to run errands. Most of the time he takes that opportunity to go #2! He has not mastered the whole pooping in the potty yet. He has done it once, but his face looked so freaked out to what had just happened that I think it scared him off for the time being! Haha!

Throughout the afternoon I take off his pull up again and take him to the potty. He usually goes and then from then on I continue the same asking and taking routine. There are times he just goes by himself or comes and tells me. It is a real dedication and takes a lot of patients, but I am pretty confident that by the time baby #3 gets here, Eli will be fully potty trained.

Let me know any helpful tips or strategies you have used to potty train!

Have a great day everyone!

The Best Of Me

Recently I've been trying to figure out how I'm going to spread myself out to 3 boys. Yes, I stay home and technically everything that consists of my home is all I really have to worry about. However, sometimes I feel there is not enough hours in the day to clean the house, make the meals, play with the kids, take my oldest to sports, do homework, try to teach my youngest something new, get him to nap, read to them.... you get the picture. I mean i can barely get through that stuff with the 2 boys I have! So I've come to the conclusion that I really don't sleep well anyways, I mean I've said it before, sleep is overrated! All I can do is pray that these boys will just be happy with the best of me. Thats all I can give. I love them all beyond words and more than my heart can hold already!

Just this past Friday we had a parent teacher conference for Abram. I was so proud to hear he is doing so great and that he is already advanced and doing 1st grade level reading and math! I couldn't help but get watery eyed during the conference. I felt like me staying home with him has really helped. We always work on school work and read everyday. Its nice to know my husband and I had a little to do with that. At times parents may beat themselves up about not spending enough time with our kids or even spending too much time that they become clingy! Just remember everyday to give the best of you and that is always enough!

Have a Wonderful Day Everyone!
