Our Last Weekend

My 3 loves!!

"Hurry up Mom!"

Taking pics is what Eli loves most!

Abram making silly faces!

Happy to see Mom after a long morning at school!

Today was the last day we dropped off and picked up Abram from school as a family of 4, since Monday morning is my scheduled C-Section. I don't know why but it makes me get all choked up to see Abram will now be the big brother of 2 and Eli, my baby, will technically no longer be the baby, although he will always be mommy's baby! They are both so excited to meet him and they can't wait! Abram's teacher told me today that he has been talking about it at school and is so excited to meet his baby brother. That just melts my heart!! He is so caring. And Eli is always lifting my shirt and speaking to Josiah through my belly telling him how much he loves him. It really is the sweetest thing! I'm not really worried about the transition of them and the baby, I know they will both do great and be very protective of their little bro.
We have a lot going on this weekend, t-ball, a birthday party, the schools festival, some last minute shopping, and of course Mother's Day!! I really am trying to enjoy every last minute of it without feeling overwhelmed! My body tends to give out so quickly now and I get SUPER tired by the evening. Last night Luis said I was snoring so loud he couldn't sleep!! HAHA! I'm usually not a snorer so I must have been exhausted! I will definitely be hitting the hay pretty early the next couple of nights. Anyways cant wait to update after the birth!
Have a fantastic weekend everyone and please wish me luck!!

Breastfeeding

I've breastfed both my boys and plan on doing it with Josiah as well. I must say it was really hard to get used to and get a good milk supply when Abram was born. I was really stressed as a first time mom when trying to to get him to latch and trying to figure out why he ate so much! ( I thought he wasn't getting enough). I quickly learned that newborns literally eat all day and if they are not eating they are sleeping. I had so much supply I was able to pump more after he ate and store it for when we went out. I nursed Abram for a year and same went for Eli. I loved it! The bond you form with your newborn is great. I think it was harder on me than on them to quit! It really is a rewarding feeling, plus its FREE!!!! Now if you can't seem to keep up your milk supply this tea really helps. I found it at most local stores like Target and Walmart, but if you can't find it try your local health food store like Lassens or Whole Foods. It really does help. The taste is a bit bitter, like black licorice,  but I added natural honey and sometimes lemon or a bit of sugar. The best part about this tea is its all natural and organic!
Another good promoter of lactation is oatmeal. I used to eat it every morning for breakfast and if I didn't feel like having oatmeal hot and mushy, Luis would mix about half a cup of the quick oats with a tall glass of milk and Nesquick. I would let it sit there till the oats were soft and easy to swallow. I actually liked it a lot more than hot oats! Which reminds me I need to stock up on Oatmeal!
Stuff to stay away from is spicy foods, they make the baby gassy and caulicy. Broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage used to make their stomach upset as well. I also found that if I got really upset or stressed out my milk would have a negative effect on the baby. It might not sound realistic, but I think it really sours your milk so baby gets a tummy ache or a bit gassy. So try to stay calm and take deep breaths when upset! Or you can always pump and dump!
So thats my advice for breastfeeding, I hope its as successful for you as it was for me. If for some reason you are unable to breastfeed, but tried, don't feel bad! Breastfeeding is not for all women. Your baby will be fine with formula once you find the right one. You are still a good mom and don't let other make you feel like your not. Just enjoy your baby!!

Being a Mommy

With Mothers Day just around the corner, I can't help think of my kids and everything that entails being a mommy! Not one day goes by that I don't laugh over something one of the boys did or said. They are just so animated and so funny, sometimes I wonder where they come up with certain things! When they learn something new or teach me something new I can't help but feel so proud of who they are and the little men they are becoming. I can't say I don't feel overwhelmed at time or that I don't get stressed out and that everyday is rainbows and butterflies. However I can honestly say every day I smile and everyday I get hugs and kisses and everyday I feel so insanely lucky to be their mother. You see growing up I didn't even want kids, I wasn't the typical little girl who planned on the marriage and kids and white picket fence. For it to just happen to me is such a true blessing, that I can't help love every minute of my life, even the chaotic times. This Mothers Day my wish is to deliver another happy and healthy baby into my family, and to love and cherish every minute of it because time stops for no one. I find myself wanting to freeze some days or wake up and relive them, but its just not possible. All I can do is be ever so grateful and love this incredible life I have been given!!

Just Another Day at the Park

We literally live across the street from the park. Whenever the day is nice we take a walk over and they run around like crazy! They have the best time. A lot of time there are other kids their age there and they get a nice little play date. Yesterday we spent 2 hours there, they were so exhausted by the time we got home. I notice when they run around and let out energy outside for about an hour or more, they are not so wound up at home. When we got home they rested a bit and then went in the back yard to run around the rest of the evening. I love watching them play and just be kids. It really does make life worth while, as a mother, watching your kids just have fun. Water balloon fights have become a normal thing around the house, since we got nice weather, they love getting wet and getting Luis and I soaked! Making time to play with the kids is such a big deal, not only does it form an amazing bond, but you really get to know your kids personalities and preferences. Plus the smiles are endless!!!
Have a fun filled weekend!
