Pumpkin Patch

If you follow me on Instagram or my Facebbook page, you might have seen I had the pleasure of being a chaperone on Abram's field trip to the pumpkin patch. I was so excited because I hardly get one on one time with Abram since the other boys were born. It was easier before Josiah was born if Eli napped or I took Abram to the store with me and left Eli home with Luis, but now that rarely happens. So when his teacher asked I said yes! Abram has a peanut and tree nut allergy, so I get pretty paranoid sending him anywhere without me.
We first found out he had a nut allergy when he was a little over 1 year. I gave him a raisin from a trail mix bag I was eating and within about 10 minutes his lips swell up like a balloon! It was very scary, and to top it off Luis was out of town! At the hospital they said it might be a peanut allergy, but we wouldn't know for sure until after he was 3, when they could do an accurate allergy test on him. We steered as clear as possible from nuts after that- until the second encounter, he was 2. We were visiting my dad and they gave him a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie, but little did we know the cookies had been baked on the same cookie sheet where peanut butter cookies had also been baked. Within that hour Abram threw up and said his stomach hurt, so I just thought the cookie was bad. By the time we got home he was covered in hives and crying that he was itchy and his throat was itchy. I realized he was having another reaction so I rushed him to the hospital. Oh and Luis was out of town yet again!
Needless to say I am very very very cautious with Abram now. We carry around his Auvi Q auto injector and have only had to use it 1 time, just recently. Abram is aware of what he can eat and what he can't, so it gives me a bit more confidence while he is at school, but not out and about where he is more exposed.
Back to the field trip. Avila Valley Farms is open year around so we actually take the kids there often to feed the animals, pick apples and sometime get some produce. It was 100 degrees that day and Abram only had fun part of the time. The rest of it, he was complaining about the heat and the flies trying to eat his food. He was not very happy that the class was unable to feed the animals, so he came home saying the trip was boring! Haha. Well I had fun! We went on a hayride and picked pumpkins and best of all I enjoyed time with my first baby! Things may not always be fun for him, but as long as I know he is safe and I get to be there to see him smile- it's fun for me!
Have a wonderful Monday!

Local Farmer's Market

Every Wednesday we head over to our local farmer's market to get the best and freshest produce in town. I can not be without fruits and veggies at home and neither can the boys. Eli always looks forward to going because the venders let him try free samples of fruit! I have been going since I was pregnant with Eli, and the vendors have always been the same people, so we have built a relationship already. If I don't go for-whatever reason one week- the following week they are interrogating me as to where I was and why I didn't show up! Haha. They are all awesome people. I really love going. For a few weeks my normal "carrot lady" didn't have carrots and I was going nuts! I had to buy other carrots and they just did not taste the same. I guess my palate has grown accustomed to the best carrots EVER!
Ever since we went back on our Paleo way, we literally finish all the veggies before we even get to the following Wednesday, so this week we got a little extra. I normally buy broccoli, carrots, bok choy, lettuce, tomato, zucchini, bell peppers, onion, kale, cilantro, strawberries, oh and my favorite green beans!!! They have so much other produce as well, but those are my must haves!
It is so important for your body and health to have fruits and veggies- not to mention the wonders it does on the skin! If you have a local farmer's market I suggest giving them a try. I find their prices so reasonable and their flavors so rich! Now, when I am for some odd reason forced to buy store bought produce, I can totally taste the difference. It's a lot more bland and I can tell it has been previously frozen. I am really happy supporting our local farmers and all their hard work, it really does pay off.
Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to eat your veggies :)

Fall Scents

I love love love the Fall scents! This time of year Luis knows that I have to splurge on making the house not only look like Fall exploded, but also smell absolutely divine. Yesterday I went down to my all time favorite holiday smell store Bath & Body Works to get my scent fix.
Pumpkin Coconut 3-Wick Candle - Home Fragrance 1037181 - Bath & Body Works
If you love the smell of pumpkin and coconut, you will love this candle. I think it smells like I'm baking some delicious cookies, so aside from possibly making you hungry, trust me your nose will be in sweet heaven! It definitely takes the cake for favorite of the season!
Pumpkin Pecan Waffles 3-Wick Candle - Home Fragrance 1037181 - Bath & Body Works
Most of their candles have that yummy- I just baked some pie- kind of smell, but this one will probably trick guests the most. This one was my favorite last year and everyone who walked in would ask me what I was baking. It smells aaaamazing and is also a must have in my book.
Maple Leaf Nightlight Wallflowers Fragrance Plug - Home Fragrance 1037181 - Bath & Body Works Leaves Wallflowers Fragrance Refill - Home Fragrance 1037181 - Bath & Body Works Pumpkin Cupcake Wallflowers Fragrance Refill - Home Fragrance 1037181 - Bath & Body Works
I also pick up some wallflowers every year because I think they make the walls look pretty along with maintaining the aroma in the house. I use one of these in the bathroom to help with making the bathroom look festive while masking the smell of- well- pee pee! Haha! What can I say, I have a 2 yr old who doesn't always get to the potty in time and a 6 yr old who forgets to aim. I also love the smell of the wallflowers as I walk down the hallway.
Honestly if you have never tried these Bath & Body Works products you have to try them this season, you will not regret it. They not only make your house smell glorious, but for some reason it makes your home feel homey. So head over to the nearest store and get a whiff of all the scents. I normally get their awesome coupons in the mail because I am a regular shopper, but even if you don't they always have awesome sales, especially during the holidays. Click any of the pictures above to get the price of each item and you can also sign up online to receive their coupons.
