Changes

I am so excited for the changes coming to the blog. I have wanted to take this leap for quite some time now and I finally feel like the time has come to do it.

Let me give you a little background about myself. I am a girl of latin roots. My family came here from Tegucigalpa, Honduras nearly 32 years ago. My father and one of my brothers was the first to come with some of my aunts. After them came my mother. The rest of my brothers and sisters came shortly after. I am actually the only one of my family born here in the United States.

That being said, for years my family has called America our home and we are proud to live here. We still have family (aunts, uncles, cousins) living in Honduras. My roots are Honduran and  my love for the country runs deep.

In the back of my mind I have always thought that maybe I should blog in Spanish, being as it might be easier for my family in Honduras to read and keep up with my life.

My aunts made a trip to visit with us back in March.

I also feel that with the blog being in Spanish I could reach a larger audience to raise clubfoot awareness. I know there are already some websites that are in spanish for the clubfoot cause. I just feel that maybe, in some way, I can reach a spanish speaking clubfoot mother somewhere in the world and remind her she is not alone.

I have also recently joined forces with Latina Bloggers and to be true to my roots I feel like I owe it to my Latina side to begin translating my blog. I know this will be a positive change to the blog and I truly feel like it's the right move.

Another change I have been teetering on is a Youtube channel. I first thought about opening one up when Josiah was born to share the actual journey with clubfoot, from the beginning, but I never mustered up the guts. One thing about me is I am so camera shy! You wouldn't think that because, hey, I'm a blogger! But really, the thought of my voice and my face being in a video really makes my stomach flip. However, I do feel that some things I want to share about clubfoot would be easier shared in a video. Plus you could finally get to meet the babies behind the blog! The ones who inspire most of my posts. So I decided I will give it a go! Now please don't expect to see the high definition "WOW" video you see with some of those talented vloggers because honestly, I barely know how to use a computer! I also do not have a DSLR camera, but I am hopeful what I have will do. I just have to figure out how to edit and I should be good..... Right?!

I hope you will continue to join me on our journey as these changes begin unraveling. I am hoping to have the translation up and running by the first post of August and a video sometime within the next few weeks.  Thank you for all your support it really means so much!

If you have any tips for me I would love to read them! I need all the help I can get! Just leave your tips below.

  2. This is great Dominique! I first started writing only in English and then transitioned into a bilingual blog. It's great because my family from the Dominican Republic can read and understand it. So, you go girl! also, I can't wait to see your first video, at first it can be nerve racking but then you'll get the hang of things. You will do great :)

  9. I already love your blog and found some of your post so so inspirational at times when I felt it was all getting too much (my son is 4 months in 23 hr wear). A youtube channel would just make it even more awesome!!!

  10. I think it's amazing!!! I believe we have a lot of information here in the states, well as the recent years go...however there are so many latin countries who don't have the knowledge or the medical help we can so easily get here. Wishing you the best of Luck. I too plan on making videos soon from a therapist point of view...maybe we can collaborate on this ;)

    1. Yes, latin America and other countries lack so much more doctors who are knowledgeable on the new clubfoot cure. Of course my blog is just opinion and based only on my child, but this is when I am thankful for organizations like Miraclefeet and Cure that help these countries as much as they can. Collaborating with you would be awesome! I will message you soon! xo
