We Found Chewy's Brother!

As hard at it is to believe, on my way out to a walk last week, I found Chewbacca's brother! I was locking the door and I hear Eli say, " Hi Chewy!" I immediately thought Chewy had got out and I didn't notice, but when I went to grab him his collar was missing. I went back in the house to look for Chewy and there he was, wearing his Tiffany blue collar, looking at me funny. I went back outside and knew that this had to be Chewy's brother. I checked him for fleas, being as Chewy had been covered in them, and sure enough, he was covered everywhere! I cancelled my walk and grabbed all the bath stuff I needed and started bathing Chewy's brother. His flea problem was about 10 times worse than Chewy's was, so much so that it took me 3 hours and a sun burn to get all the fleas dead and brushed off. I could not believe that the owner of these puppies, just did not care about taking the proper care of these little guys. I was so upset that this time I did not go out looking for the owner. If this person did not care enough about them to bathe them and get them flea treatment, they would not care that Chewy's brother was missing. My nephew had really taken a liking to Chewy so he decided to take him in and give him a good home. I was happy to see Chewy and his brother run around together, but Luis said there was no way we were going to have 3 dogs and 3 kids! Haha! He also said no more rescuing, but we shall see about that! I just have such a urge to help, I can't help it. I'm glad Chewy's brother stayed in the family so that they can get together often and still be able to grow up together. So now everyone tells me to find another one of Chewy's siblings to give to them. Haha. They really are cuties and very smart. My nephew decided to name him Teddy, which I think fits him great because he looks like a teddy bear to me!
Hope everyone has a great start to their weekend.

Saturday

Chewbacca

It's been a week since we found this little guy wandering around our neighborhood. We were on our way out for a walk and he was just sitting under a tree. We looked around and there was no humans with him, haha, so I picked him up in fear he might get run over or get parvo. He looked like he was no more than 6 weeks old and my heart just couldn't live with the worry of him getting hurt, he was way too cute! The kids and I went knocking door to door in our neighborhood and the next block over, but nobody claimed him so we brought him back home. It felt like he had a little lump on his neck, which I thought was a microchip so Luis suggested taking him to the vet to find out. The vet was almost closing, but they did us the favor to scan him, but no microchip. They said the lumps were just bites from fleas and/or ticks! I felt so bad for the little guy, he had the lumps everywhere! We immediately went to Target to buy the stuff we needed for him- food, shampoo, toys, and carpet powder in case fleas had made their way on our rug. When we got home I bathed and brushed out the fleas and ticks with a fine comb. It took me a good hour and a half, but I was able to get them all out. The boys played with him and decided to name him Chewbacca- Chewy for short! He cried all  night the first 2 nights and between taking him out and Josiah waking up to eat, I hardly slept. Needless to say I was exhausted, but I couldn't help fall in love with Chewy, his little face just melted my heart. I don't know if it was because I rescued him or what, but I couldn't help feel such a connection to this hairy little thing! After a few days of not finding the owner, Luis officially decided we could keep him! Chewy learned pretty quickly he had to do his business outside, he learned his name, and he stopped crying at night. We took him to the vet to get his first parvo shot, deworming and nails clipped. The vet said he was probably a mix of Yorkie and Terrier but at his age it was hard to tell because they keep changing. He is doing awesome here and the boys absolutely love him, they can play all day! So now I have 2 babies at home and our house really is so much chaos, but if it wasn't I would have nothing to write about -so it's okay! Haha! Happy Saturday!

Jack

 Patiently waiting for his treat!
Jack playing swords with Abram!

Jack tearing up his Christmas gift!

Looking back on my posts I don't think I have ever mentioned we own a crazy Chocolate Labrador Retriever named Jack Frost. We bought him for Abram as a birthday gift when he turned 4 years old in 2013. Abram named him after Jack Frost from the movie Rise of the Guardians. We got him when he was only 7 weeks old and he was beautiful, pure bred and so much work! Lol. I had heard Labs were great family dogs and pretty easy to train so we went for it! Its nearly 2 years later and he is still crazy! Jack is a really loving dog and so protective of the kids. Sometimes I have a hard time with how hyper he is, since I already deal with 2 other crazy boys in the house, but I can't picture our family without him. My in laws just went through the loss of their Boxer of about 10 years and it makes me sad to think someday Jack will pass on us. The boys love him so much and always play with Jack as the bad guy or monster out to get them and they all love it! Haha. So if anyone is thinking of getting a family dog I do highly recommend a Labrador, just know it takes a lot of training, patience, and about 2 years of some chaos, but the love they give your family outweighs those chaotic times!
