Thankful Tree

It seems that after Halloween people nowadays just skip right to Christmas. I actually strongly dislike that. Thanksgiving is such a beautiful holiday that should be very celebrated, not just for the food, but for all of our blessings.

Today's post is by Lesley who is the writer of one of my favorite blogs, The Lucky Pear. Hope you enjoy this wonderful diy as much as I do!

I can hardly believe November is half way over, where did the time go? I'm not at all surprised that another year has quickly come and gone. Before we know it, the holidays will be over in a blink of an eye. Our family is always busy this time of year. Planning Thanksgiving, Christmas, not to mention the hustle and bustle of everyday life. With that being said, I don't want to miss the true meaning of the season. I would hate to be so consumed with my to do list, that I'm too distracted to enjoy all the little moments.

I've come up with the Thankful Tree as our centerpiece this year, as a reminder to stop and reflect on what it is that we're thankful for. Our centerpiece is so big, it nearly consumes our dining room table. It's virtually impossible to miss, serving as a constant reminder to be grateful. The purpose of the centerpiece is not only for Thanksgiving Day, but everyday after that as well. I am so in love with how our tree turned out, I'm considering leaving it up all year round.

All you need:
  • Sticks
  • River rocks
  • Vase
  • Cardstock
  • Fishing line or ribbon
  • Hole punch
  • Scissors
  • Printable

I especially loved this project because it didn't cost me a dime. I literally had everything at my fingertips. The sticks were found outside, the river rocks were from a previous project, and the planter was just collecting dust. I've tried to make things easy for you by creating a free printable. Simply print out, use a hole punch and tie with either fishing line or ribbon.

When my son was watching me assemble the tree, he politely asked if he could write down a few things he was thankful for. Among that list was food and Minecraft. As a 7-year-old I don't expect some sort of dramatic response, but I am grateful that he's able to recognize something that he values and appreciates. Even if it is Minecraft.

As for me, I am thankful for so much this year. I am thankful for my healthy family, my incredible friends, and my perfectly imperfect life. For more easy DIY projects, be sure to visit The Lucky Pear! Happy Holidays!

Feliz temporadas!
