Quick And Natural Beauty Tips

Okay, I am completely in love with Purity Made Simple by Philosophy. I use it daily to wash my face sometimes alone or sometimes with my Clarisonic. It works so well for me and it has for nearly a year. Every once and a while I go back to making one of my natural concoctions. This is a face mask I used to make every night and I love it! It made my face feel so clean and revitalized. Honey works great for- scars because of its bleaching effect, acne because of it's anti- bacterial properties, and anti-aging because of its antioxidants. Nutmeg is an anti- inflammatory and exfoliates the skin . Cinnamon is anti- fungal and anti-viral. Lemon also naturally fades scars. This is a great little mask that you have right in your kitchen!
1/4tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp raw honey
3-4 drops of natural lemon juice
Mix all the ingredients in a small bowl or small jar. Once it's a nice and even consistency apply it to your face, evenly. This amount is usually enough for my face, but if you need to you can double the amounts. I leave this on for 15-20 min depending on how busy I might get. When you wash it off scrub in circular motions around your face and try to rinse it all off, you don't want to end up with a sticky pillow! It smells awesome and it feels a bit tingly at first, but your face adjusts. It should not burn so if you start to feel a burning sensation and it feels unbearable, wash it off  and try just a honey lemon mask with the same amounts above. I personally love this mask, but not all skins are the same. Let me know in the comments below if you have tried it and what you think!

Another of my favorite kitchen go to items is coconut oil. I just buy it at Costco, but they have it anywhere these day, just make sure you buy the unrefined virgin oil. There are many benefits that by now I am sure everyone has heard of, but I'll give you my uses and reasons. I use it for eye make up remover when I use waterproof mascara. Just apply a bit to your finger tips and rub into your lids and lashes. Try to keep your eyes closed because if not you can end up with a blurry vision. Leave it on for about 3-5 min then remove with cotton or cotton pad. It works really well and leaves the skin around your eyes soft and supple!
I also use coconut oil if the boys get a diaper rash and it usually clears up that same day. I use it as a body moisturizer for myself and the kids, and even shaving! You just take a small amount and rub it into your skin, it feels a bit greasy at first, but it soaks into the skin after a few minutes. We also use it to cook and for baking in place of vegetable oil. I've heard about it being used for oil pulling, where you leave it in your mouth for about 30 min and then spit it out and brush your teeth, to help with gums and bad breath, but I have yet to try this. I love coconut oil and we are never without it at my house. I'd love to know what you use coconut oil for, share in the comments below!
